Readers,
Why is it that we as Christians are always asking God for stuff, but we don’t appreciate the few things we already have? Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that it is wrong to ask God to give us stuff, but what I am saying is that it is wrong to not take care of things that God may give us or already has given us. As a child my parents taught me a philosophy that I will never forget. My parents taught me that when they or anyone buys me something I don’t take good care of it. I might even lose it before even having the gift for a week. But when I buy something personally I’m very quick to take care of it. Taking care of the gifts that God gives us is what I want to talk about today. Or in Christian terms I want to talk about having good stewardship. Webster defines stewardship as the practicing of managing something. But I’m going to take that definition a step further. Stewardship is the act of taking care of something. Like when teenagers or maybe even you do when you buy shoes, cars, or clothes.
What I want you readers to understand is that we own nothing. Everything that we may think we own belongs to God. Therefore, we should take care of everything we own. If we own a house we should clean it everyday or at least once a week. If we own a car we should be sure not to eat in it and make sure that all the trash is empty prior to getting out of the car. If one chooses to eat in their car, then they should be sure to clean up the mess after eating. If we as Christians can master this concept then I believe God would bless us more. This is a concept that I don’t know if it is in the bible or not but it is a personal opinion. One can choose to agree or disagree if they choose but why should I or anybody be given something else if we don’t take care of the few things that we already have.
